For the next few weeks, the Parliament has come to New Forest School. We have taken delivery of a Parliament Loan Box from the Houses of Parliament. Inside the box are all the essential items required to run a ‘mini-parliament’ from within the school.

The contents of the box and their purpose was unveiled by our Deputy Headteacher during an assembly and teaching staff will be using the equipment to run mini-debates and sessions of parliament throughout the coming weeks. Students have been asked to consider topics or ideas they might raise through a ‘bill to parliament’ and pass these to the Senior Leadership Team for consideration.

The box has already been booked by our History teacher to run a debate on Slavery as part of his current Key Stage 3 topic.

A copy of the presentation delivered in the introduction assembly can be downloaded here in .pptx format.
